My life’s work has been devoted to helping people reach agreement. Since 1983, I have served primarily public sector agencies seeking consensus from the broadest possible range of stakeholder interests and perspectives. It’s a fact: public agencies cannot move forward unless they have consensus and support from those they serve. My work helps to ensure the long-term, sustained success, of programs, plans, and projects.
My most complex and wide-ranging project to-date was my work in forging a four-state regional recommendation on the future of the Columbia River Treaty between the United States and Canada. Water supply, shoreline management, parks, redevelopment, habitat restoration, and transportation are other issue areas in which I have facilitated disparate interests to a middle common ground.
I founded Norton-Arnold & Company in 1995 and have been privileged to work on some of the most complex and challenging projects in the Pacific Northwest. I am lucky to continue to be immersed in those complexities — with interesting projects and great clients. Descriptions of my current work – along with a number of signature clients and projects, are provided on this website.
My clients say they appreciate me for my even-handedness, facilitation approach, sense of humor, and ability to mediate through intractable positions to find consensus. I’m eager to put these skills to work for you – let’s get in touch!
