King County has been a long-standing client with many projects. Perhaps the most notable was Brightwater — Norton-Arnold & Company managed the public involvement process for this controversial and complex siting effort related to the County’s new wastewater treatment plant. Margaret’s work included the facilitation of a Siting Advisory Committee, made up of elected officials. She also facilitated public meetings, small work group sessions, and wastewater “learning academies.”
Today Brightwater is an attractive, state-of-the art wastewater treatment facility located in the Woodinville area of King County. During the siting process, however, no one wanted a sewer plant in their neighborhood. Public opposition was fierce and strident. Margaret considers her work on Brightwater to be a highlighted example of her ability to manage the toughest of crowds with the most intractable opinions.
